I will be brutally honest and just say this was one of our more draining Christmases to date. There was a lot that was special and so much to be grateful for but the ages and stages of our kiddos didn't lend itself for much rest or really soaking up the holiday.
All that to say, if you had a stressful holiday chasing toddlers, disciplining, figuring out how to help a 2 year old navigate severe stimulation-overload and getting an overwhelmed 1 year old to nap....you're not alone!
I snapped some pictures of the highlights which are the memories I want to last :)
On Friday night I put together a cheese board and we had a mini date night in after the boys were asleep. We spent a few hours snacking, playing Crokinole and chatting. Ryan paired wine with his apps and I had a lemon La Croix
We were also able to sneak away the week before for a REAL date night! We went to Arvada School House and really enjoyed it! It's a neat atmosphere, decorated like an old school house with lots of whimsical touches. I had the shrimp and grits and Ryan had a BBQ pork sandwich-both delicious!
The boys dove into some crafts Thursday night and I would say Sir tried to eat more crayon than he did any actual drawing ha!
Don't worry, they are just butter knives! This kid LOVES him some swords, knives, or anything he can yell HI-YAH and twirl around

On Saturday we went to church. We walked there in really pleasant weather but by the time service was over it was 20 degrees and snowing! Woops! We booked it home. It was nice to celebrate a few days early at church and listen to an incredible message from our pastor
On Christmas Eve I read and sipped decaf coffee while the boys naps. It was the quietest moment I had all weekend and it was a gift to sit by the tree and just enjoy
I got almost no pictures of Christmas morning this year but that's ok. I've read the events you don't capture with a camera are the ones you remember most clearly in your memory. Not sure if that's true ;) My parents did an incredible job making the boy's Christmas morning special with BIG stockings and fun Santa presents
This is how Sir felt about 2 hours after being up. Just needed to lounge on his new sleeping bag with a bottle. Too sweet!!
We spent the rest of the day with Ryan's family where the boys were again SO blessed by their Grandma and Grandpa Decker with thoughtful toys that will keep them busy all winter long. Ylo (my MIL) had 12 grandkids to buy for this year plus all of her own kids and their spouses. She is a busy little Christmas elf!
And a final picture that pretty much sums up how we feel after a week of celebrating ha!
